SABIAN CYMBALS

SABIAN was founded in 1981, when Robert Zildjian - one of the world's great names in cymbal making came to the conclusion that drummers needed a better choice of cymbals. Unsatisfied with the quality, the sound and the very relevance of the cymbals being manufactured at the time, he opened SABIAN in the small eastern Canadian village of Meductic, New Brunswick.

Since that time the SABIAN Vault has become a global center for cymbal and sound innovation. And that same SABIAN innovation has resulted in an unprecedented level of choice from the most diverse offering of cymbal design ever available. As a result, modern drummers and percussionists can choose from models that range from vintage to modern, from dark to bright, from traditional to downright eclectic.

Visit Sabian.com to discover the vast range of cymbals and percussion instruments available to you - be sure to listen to sound clips and watch performance video. You will quickly agree that SABIAN innovation is all about creating new sounds that matter to musicians. Like the dark, tonal complexity of an Artisan Ride or the quick, trashy response of an O-Zone Crash. X-Treme Crashes produce raw glassiness, while X-Plosion Crashes delivers with raw power. And these are but a few models. There are hundreds of others, both traditional and innovative, producing vintage and modern sounds for drummers and percussionists from all genres.

Today, with offices and depots around the globe, and distribution into approximately 120 countries, SABIAN is exactly what Bob Zildjian and his family envisioned back in 1981. But it's really only the beginning. As musical styles and tastes are continually evolving, so is the art of cymbal making. And no company is better positioned to meet the demand for innovative sounds from artists around the globe. Ask any employee why SABIAN exists, the answer is obvious: "Because Sound Matters!"

TAMA DRUMS

The Starclassic series is one of Tama's high-end line of drums. Originally hand-crafted in Japan until late 2009, most of the Starclassic lines are now made in TAMA's Chinese factory. A notable difference is that pre 2009 Japanese production Starclassics have their badges painted on the drum's shell, while Chinese-made Starclassics feature badges fitted onto the shell with screws. Pre 2010 Japanese production Starclassics have a mix of paint-on and screw-on badges depending on the model. Performer Birch have metal badges while Starclassic Maple and Bubinga lines have decal badges. All Starclassic series drums come with a more streamlined version of Tama's Star-Cast mounting system made from aluminum, air-cushioned floor tom legs, "Hold Tight" washers which keeps the tension rods in place (Starclassic Maple to Starclassic Bubinga Elite), die-cast hoops, and Evans drumheads as standard equipment. The drums are also available in a Hyper-Drive configuration, with individual snare drums also available.

For 2013, it is Tama's new flagship line. STAR drums are available with either bubinga or maple shells. New features for the STAR line include "Super Resonant Mounting System", unique shell construction, and the Quick-Lock Tom Bracket. Bubinga shell drums are made with 5 plies of bubinga plus one inner ply of Cordia and have 9mm Sound Control Rings. Maple shell drums are made with 5 plies of maple and have 5mm Sound Control Rings. Currently, Tama offers the STAR series in Bubinga, Walnut, and Maple.

EVANS DRUMHEADS

Evans Drumheads has been in the music industry for more than 40 years, and those six words best describe the history and vision of the company. Decades ago, Evans was the pioneer of drumhead manufacturing and design. Today, we are the innovators.

"The First"
Most people don't realized that Evans invented the synthetic (or plastic, or polyester) drumhead in 1956. Chick Evans was the first person to use polyester film to form a drumhead, succeeding in creating a weatherproof head, and ultimately changing the drum world forever. Chick's accomplishment is clearly substantial in letters and documents on record, dating back to the 1950s. The plain truth is, Evans was the "The First".

"The Finest"
Since acquiring Evans from owner Bob Beals in 1995, D'Addario & Company, Inc., has moved the company from Dodge City, KS, to our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Farmingdale, NY. Tremendous efforts and unprecedented breakthroughs have been made in improving Chick's invention. The results are evident from the countless compliments that Evans receives daily from professionals, amateurs, hobbyists and students alike. Consistency is unparalleled. The sound is unbelievable. Durability has reached an all-time high. Plus, Evans recently became the first and only drumhead manufacturer to be certified ISO9001 compliant, a certification that proves our commitment to quality. More and more drummers each day tell us the same thing: Evans is "The Finest".

"The Future"
Even with products touted as being among the world's best, we continue to invest heavily in Evans' facilities, ensuring that our equipment is not simply industry standard but ahead of it. With machinery designed and built in-house by a staff of highly trained engineers, overseen by company President Jim D'Addario, we've raised the bar on drumhead quality and consistency. For example, it was Evans who introduced a water-cooled molding process, which preserves the integrity of the head's center. Development of such products as the MX Marching heads, Tri-Center Conga and Bongo heads, and the EMAD bass drumhead illustrate Evans' commitment to setting new standards, with no sign of slowing down. Strong customer service and fast-order fill rates, coupled with major investments in marketing and product development, have positioned Evans at the top of the industry. In the drum world, Evans is "The Future."

PROMARK DRUMSTICKS

The Promark company was founded in 1957 by Herb Brochstein, a professional drummer and drum shop owner. Promark has always been a family business and so continues with the 2011 purchase by D’Addario & Company from Herb’s son Maury. The offices and factory remain in Houston, Texas; manufacturing hickory, maple and Japanese Shira Kashi™ Oak (Promark was the first American drumstick company to successfully market sustainable Japanese Oak) drumsticks in its modern 90,000 square foot facility.

Promark uses only un-endangered wood in the manufacturing of its sticks and mallets. The harvesting of our hardwoods is carefully controlled, with replenishment of the forest as one of our top concerns. Prior to becoming drumsticks, the wood goes through a multitude of selection and pre-finishing processes at our own mill in the mid-south, followed by rigorous inspections throughout the manufacturing process.

The Houston manufacturing team works with the state-of-the-art machinery to produce the drumsticks, keyboard and timpani mallets that are designed tested and used by top performers, educators, students and enthusiasts throughout the world. Promark has been the sticks of choice by such renowned artists as Neil Peart, the late Elvin Jones, Ringo Starr, Phil Collins, Mike Portnoy, 9-time DCI champion Concord Blue Devils, and many, many more.

SLAPKLATZ DAMPER GEL

SlapKlatz makes what we believe is the most versatile drum dampeners on the market. These drum gel dampeners lets drummers easily remove, control and handle unwanted ring and overtones from their drums and cymbals, without sacrificing the tone or the playing feel. In order to do that, there is a few things that needs to be done right.

MATERIAL
First up is the material. Our gel is developed to be extremely sticky. This enables our drum dampeners to stay on the drums, no matter where you put it. These dampeners even stays on your bottom heads - or the underside of your cymbals for that matter.

SELECTION
Next up is size and thickness. This is very important, if you want a versatile and functional tool, to enhance your drum sound. We have spend so much time testing this, and the result is our PRO package. This drum damper kit gives you everything a professional drummer needs, in order to control and improve the sound from his or her drums.

CYMPAD CYMBAL WASHERS

Reto Hirschi is a Swiss-based professional drummer and teacher who noticed that the sound level of his cymbals was often too loud in performance and recording situations— and sometimes too loud in rehearsal and teaching situations, as well. Because of this, Reto (like other drummers) often either had to wear earplugs or found himself banished behind a Plexiglas wall at live concerts and in the studio, or both. Reto felt that these solutions were not satisfactory: Earplugs modified the sound of the drums and the Plexiglas wall had a sonic effect that disrupted his relationship with the audience. Reto was convinced there had to be a better way to “tame” his cymbals. To meet this need, Reto had the idea of replacing the standard bottom cymbal felt with a larger one. This small change resulted in a noticeably less aggressive, less noisy, less washy sound without changing the general sound characteristics of the cymbal. After further experimenting, Reto took his idea to the next level by swapping the traditional felt washer for a washer made of an advanced, cellular foam. He then began trying different washer sizes to create additional sound control options. Calling them “Cympad Moderators”, Reto’s invention and the Cympad Company were born in 2005 with the introduction of 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100mm Moderator models to the drumming world. Cympad Moderators immediately received positive feedback from drummers and sound engineers. Some even considered the Moderators a revolution for drummers. Reto quickly began to build a market for his new products and establish an international network of dealers and distributors. Reto thought that the cellular foam he was using for the Moderators might work in other drumset applications, too. He next began developing cellular foam washers that would replace conventional felt cymbal washers. The result of his efforts was a new breed of cymbal washers that provided better cymbal suspension, better isolation from stands and mounting hardware, better cymbal sound and a more comfortable, more natural feel. He called this group of cymbal sound enhancers “Cympad Optimizers” and offered them in a selection of models to fit all cymbal types and sizes. “Cympad Chromatics”, cellular foam cymbal washers in a variety of bright, attractive colors, is the third and latest series of cellular foam cymbal washers from Cympad. It seemed that drummers enjoyed the ability to enhance the sound and customize the look of their drumkits as Chromatics quickly became a top selling drum accessory all around the world. Today Cympad Moderators, Optimizers and Chromatics are available in more than 40 countries and used and endorsed by the world’s top drummers, including Aaron Spears, Stanley Randolph, Shannon Larkin, Stanton Moore, Stephen Perkins, Johnny Rabb, Rich Redmond, Walfredo Reyes Jr., Steve Smith, Thomas Lang and many more. Reto continues to teach and play the drums and his company continues to create innovations designed to meet the needs of modern drummers.
